What Causes The Condition Of Mitral Valve Prolapse?
Hi I m 31 years old and recently I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild to moderate mitral regurgitation. I was given Felodipine as medication and also aspirin by my internist since I do have an asthma and beta blockers are not ok with me. Just like to ask since this is my first time to know this kind of condition should I seek further to a cardiologist to better understand my condition? Although my internist explained this to me well, I just had that kind of worry and would like to know straight from a specialist. Also, can this be then progress as time goes by, what should I look out for in terms of foods and is there any restrictions to be consider in terms of having an exercise. Thank you and I really appreciate your help on this.
Dear Sir/Madam Thanks for your query. 1. Yes, this condition, mainly the mitral regurgitation may worsen over a period of time. It may not worsen at all. No one can guess in a given case. 2. There are no restriction for food and exercise for mild to moderate MR. 3. Do get an ECHO done regularly as per advice of your doctor. Sincerely Sukhvinder
