What Causes Terrible Pain After Taking Amoxicillin?

i had root canal 1 week ago and had been on amoxycillin just previously for 10 days for a toe infection so i didn't want to take more for the root canal. besides i felt horrible when taking them-killed my stomach. i also have early parkinsons disease and take levidopa/cardidopa which also causes stomach upset. meanwhile, the root canal had been painful and my endodontist prescribed amoxycillin 500 mg. i just took 2 immediately as prescribed and feel awful,. what happens if i stopped after 2. the tooth actually felt better even before the antibiotics.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain amoxicillin is given in case of bacterial infection which is the cause for dental infection and during the course of root canal treatment it is given in order to cure the underlying infection.

As the antibiotics are best effective if taken in full course so in case full course is not taken bacteria might multiply again thereby causing
re-infection.

As you have been on amoxicillin for the past 10 days for any other infection but if still you have dental infection actively present you need to take a full course of antibiotics to prevent re-infection and improve the effectivity of root canal treatment and prevent its failure.

If you suffer from stomach upset due to antibiotics you can take a capsule of Pantoprazole empty stomach in morning and can take antacid liquid like digene half an hour before meals to relieve stomach upset symptoms..

Hope this information might help you..

Thanks and regards..
