What Causes Tension In The Neck And Shoulders While On Mersyndol?
Hi I am currently taking 1/2 tablet of mersyndol to help me sleep. After coming of clonazepam after 10 years. Was very sick with the withdrawals for about 5 weeks. But I have got constant tension in my neck and shoulders. Is this normal for such a small amount of Mersyndol .
Tension & pain in the neck & shoulders is common complain that arises due to:
1. Nerve compression
2. Muscle spasms
3. Soft tissue injury
4. Bad posture
5. Lack of proper exercises
6. Drug interaction (may cause side effects). Do not take Mersyndol with medications like NSAIDS, antihistamines, sleeping pills, anti-hypertensives, antidepressants, etc.
7. Avoid alcohol or any illegal drug abuse.
Do regular exercise, neck stretch exercises, massage, heat & ice packs are effective reducing the pain. Get physically examined & get Imaging tests done to rule out Arthritis or Spondylitis.
You can take Ibuprofen (Advil) for pain relief & apply pain relieving spray (Volini).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nupur K,
