What Causes Tenderness In The Breast While On Estradiol Transdermal Patch?

I have been on a transdermal Estradiol patch for around 2 years. Lately I have been experiencing tenderness in my breast just like I used have before each menstrual cycle. What could that mean? Do you think I could no longer be in menopause and not need the patch any longer. My yearly isn t due until the end of October. Should I try and move it up?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Using estradiol patch can cause sore breast.
Apply ice and wear supportive bra to help with the pain.
However, when on estradiol there is a risk of development of breast malignancy. So please be advised to follow up with a gynecologist/ primary care provider to undergo a clinical breast examination and mammography.

Hope this answers your question
