General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from sprained ankle since 3 weeks. You have pain. Pain is radiating to your legs, thigh and hips. There is tenderness and also a fluid pocket outside your right ankle. Your symptoms are indicative of internal injury, fracture, tear of ligament or tendon. It is not a simple sprain since there is tenderness and pain is radiating all along your leg and hip.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an orthopedist and get clinically examined, get X-ray, CT and if required MRI done. You will be accordingly treated. At present keep the affected ankle and leg at rest, do not put pressure on it. You should keep the affected leg elevated on a stool when sitting or on a pillow when on bed to prevent water retention and swelling. Take NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one stat after food to get rid of pain. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
