Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. As your father is having
palpitation, dizziness , tinnitus (noises in ear in absence of sound), it could be due to many reasons.
: First it could be due to the
head injury, if it was severe. Head injury might have caused petrous or temporal
bone fracture along with some collection. It can lead to tinnitus and dizziness. In old age persons (>60 years), head injury may cause chronic
subdural hematoma after trivial or mild injury. It need to be evaluated by clinical examination and plain CT scan of head. Sometimes it needs surgical evacuation.
: It could be due to heart problem like coronary artery disease and decrease blood supply to brain (transient ischemic attacks). It occurs due to fat deposition in arteries (
atherosclerosis) which lead to stress on heart and decreased blood supply to brain. It lead to those features.
For this, you have to show him to physician. Decrease his salt intake, avoid fatty food, ask him to start morning walk, avoid stress both mental and physical.
: It could be due to anxiety disorder. It can be suspected if all other investigations turn out to be normal. He is having these attacks while in stressful state.
For it your father needs to be remain calm, avoid mental stress, show him to
psychiatrist. He may prescribe some medications like alprazolam tablet.
Do not ignore it.
Thanks. Hope it will help you. Take care.
