Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your mother developing dementia following a history of chronic seizures I am suggesting she has developed a condition called brain stem infarction due repetitive seizure attacks

The symptoms of dementia include loss of memory both long and short term confusion

In view of this please see a neurologist specialist for expert clinical assessment Councelling and adequate drug prescription

Yes dementia is a branch of seizure only when it is chronic

I hope this helps Regards
