General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, there are various causes of pain below knee after injury as:
- Crack in the patella or tibia fibula bone
- Ligament (ant or post cruciate) sprain, strain
- Hematoma below skin surface (subcutaneous)
- Tendon inflammation
- Nerve compression underlying
- Irritation during particular movements of the joint
- Injury to meniscus (medial or lateral) or joint capsule

The specific diagnosis requires clinical examination, X-ray of the knee joint with or without MRI of the knee as per the results of above. My primary guidelines in this direction are:
- Rest to the concerned joint (avoid excess knee jerks, bending, jumping)
- Local application of analgesic spray or ointment with diclofenac, linseed oil, capsaicin
- Analgesic and anti-inflammatory medications as diclofenac, ibuprofen or tramadol hydrochloride after meals if no history of drug sensitivity

Being in regular follow up with your doc is very essential in this regard for proper healing of the condition and avoid future complications related to that.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
