What Causes Swollen Vein And Pain In Right Ankle After A Injury?

I was playing kickball and hit the ball really hard on the inside of my right ankle. The vein there is now big and the area around hurts like a bruise but no bruise is visible yet. Any suggestions on what happened? Did I just bruise my ankle badly because it was on the vein?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to injury.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Still for further assessment you may require x ray, doppler ultrasound after orthopedic surgeon consultation.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

Till then use support while walking.

Restrict your movements.

Hope I have answered your query...
Let me know if I can assist you further.
