General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of ulnar nerve entrapment or deep vein thrombosis that is causing the swelling and burning sensation in the arm. However, since the left arm is affected it may be suggestive of developing CAD, coronary artery disease associated with neuropathy. Get routine cardiac tests done like stress test, echocardiography, X-ray, EKG, blood glucose (R / PP), lipid function tests, etc.

Get nerve biopsy and nerve conduction velocity tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. Treatment is commonly with NSAIDs, to help relieve pain, soreness and inflammation. Your treating doctor may consider bracing or splinting to keep the elbow straight, nerve gliding exercises under a physical therapist is also helpful.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. You will be first given conservative treatment and physical therapy. Surgery is only recommended when the symptoms do not respond to the treatment being given.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
