Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I hit a vericose vein on my leg and it has swelled up. It s painful and has doubled in size and proportion. It is extremely painful when I stand. I ve put an ice pack and elevated my leg with absolutely no change even after an hour... When should I seek medical attention??
I understand your concern about the varicose veins and its associated pain. Varicose veins are associated with prolonged standing and it occurs with certain vascular diseases.
If I were your treating physician, I would suggest to consult a Surgeon as early as possible and not to delay as it has its own complications.
I suggest not to delay. The methods you are are using to control the varicose veins are helpful initially but they are less useful at this stage. So I suggest you consult your nearby surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Azhar Hussain,
