What Causes Swollen Vagina In A Child?

Hi my baby girl is 21 months old and sometimes she doesn t want me to wipe her vagina or touch it while giving her a bath. I checked her vagina and its not red and there is no discharge. She is urinating as usual with no pain. Yesterday it looked a bit swollen but then a few hours later it was normal and she had no problem with me touching it. This morning It looked normal and she also had no problem with me touching it. This is the third time this has happened. Is this anything to worry about?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...by what you quote I feel that the kid might be having a local fungal infection. She might require a topical antifungal medication along with a mild steroid. I suggest you consult your pediatrician or dermatologist regarding this.
