What Causes Swollen Up Vein On Wrist After An Injury?

I work moving heavy appliances and I had a heavy refrigerator on a hand truck and when I pulled it to tip it I felt something in my wrist pop and I looked at my wrist and a big swollen vein was sticking out and it was painful ans the next day the pain was gone but I have a large purple bruise where it was .Did I break a blood vessel ?
