Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is ten years old she has preiously had microscopic haematuria but her last urine test was clear. She lately I feel has had a swollen stomach and just now complaining of sore ribs not sure if the two are connected or the ribs is something she may have done in pool on the weekend. What are your thoughts
Usually microscopic hematuria just means a little bit of blood (red blood cells that are only seen under the microscope). If her last urinalysis was clear, this is likely nothing to worry about. It sometimes can be caused by an infection, wiping too vigorously or her menstrual cycle (however she may be a little young for that). I don't believe the sore ribs and swelling in her stomach are related to the microscopic hematuria. It's hard to say what her sore ribs and stomach swelling are from - however I can tell you it's unrelated to the microscopic hematuria. If you can give me more details in regards to her rib and stomach pain, perhaps I can help with that.
I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
