What Causes Swollen Skin Tag On Labia Minora?

I have a hanging skin tag on my labia minora. I ve had it since I was about 8 or 9. And I ve noticed that it swells before I get my period to the size of a small grape. When it s swollen it turns red, maybe from blood? I can feel a pulse on the part that connects it to my labia minora. It doesn t hurt but it is uncomfortable to walk with when it s swollen. Is it really a skin tag?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
After going through the description you have posted, the skin tag what you are complaining of appears to be 'angiofibroma' or 'mucinous cyst'.
Both these are harmless condition and hence you need not worry about it.
But, if it is causing uncomfortable feeling, as you are complaining of, it is better you go for its excision.
It is a simple minor out-patient procedure which will be done under aseptic conditions under local anesthesia. You need to get it done from a Surgeon or Gynecologist.
Hope the information provided would be useful. Wish you all the best.
