What Causes Swollen Neck Lymph Nodes Despite Tonsillectomy And Adenoidectomy?

My son is 5 years old and his lymph nodes in his neck have been swollen for 8 months now. We were referred to an ENT doctor who prescribed him Amoxicillin, and when that didn t work tried Augmentin. She finally thought removing his tonsils and adenoids would help. After surgery which was 2 months ago, his lymph nodes in his neck are still very swollen. I m very worried that this is something very serious.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic
Sorry about your worries regarding your son developing a swollen lymph node at the neck following tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in spite of intake of 2 antibiotics I am suggesting that has developed a cervical Lymphadenopathy due to the following
Lymphoma
Adenitis
Leukemia
Auto antibody reaction
Persistent viremia /bacteria infection
In view of this please do the following test
Lymph node biopsy
Blood culture
Meanwhile please see a paediatric oncologist with the results and for further expect clinical assessment Councelling and adequate drug prescription
I hope this helps Regards
