What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck And Pressure At The Base Of The Skull?

I have swollen glands, several swollen lymphnodes in my neck, swollen right tonsil, slight pain and pressure at the base of my skull. No issues with my lungs. The glands were so swollen they were about the size of a small Apple. After 10 days the swelling is finally going down. The doctor had me on amoxicillin and switched it to a different antibiotic. He did several blood tests. I am feeling better but I still have pressure at the base of my skull and my ears. (I didn t have an ear infection) Should I be concern about the pressure or wait and take the remainder quantity of the antibiotic first?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The swollen lymph nodes are reactive lymph nodes due to the tonsil infection. I suggest you continue the cycle of antibiotics. I also recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three tablets a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
