What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes Below The Ear?

In November 2016 my thyroid was removed due to masses and tumors. They were found to be non-malignant. This week I noticed a swollen gland below my ear that is very hard to the touch. The other side of my neck is fine. Should I schedule another follow up visit with my thyroid surgeon?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your swollen preauricular lymph node.

As you said you had a history of mass though it was benign and now you have a hard swollen lymph node that is pain less.
As you know that lymphatic system drains any unwanted stuff in body. You need to visit the doctor as soon as possible to get physically evalvated.
If you have any ear pain, scalp injury or infection on that side will be be because of that.
But you had a history of benign mass you need to get an FNAC of the lymph node done to get properly evaluated and best treated.

Hope my answer will help you and you can write to us further if you feel any assistance more.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer.
