What Causes Swollen Lumps In The Armpit?

I have a 21 year old son who has swollen lumps under each arm pit for 2 months now. He is tired and needs a lot of sleep. He had blood work done and it showed inflammation ( Crp). We are waiting for ultrasound appointment. Should he be tested for mono or cmv? At what point does the family dr refer us for biopsies?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In the case of infectious mononucleosis and CMV respiratory symptoms present and enlarged cervical node usually present.
So it seems less likely.

But any lump since 2 months needs further evaluation with simple FNAC procedure.

It will help in rule out nature of lesion whether inflammatory or malignant one.

Based on that report further management plan decided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
