the cause of swelling and pain may be due to rhematoid arthritis.the blood test sent may be RA factor.usually in rhematoid arthritis small joints are involved. The differential diagnosis may be rhematic fever of short duration sore throat and heart valve leision. may be osteo arthritis of long standing duration, old age.
