Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Eyelid, Eye Redness, Watery Discharge And Irritable Eyes?
Visited a opthamologist for my issue with left eye (swollen eyelid), redness of eyes, discharge (tearing), scratch mark on eyelid (I didnt do that), irritable eyes (tired eyes). He prescribed to me benadyrl 500 mg. ointment. I have suffered from conjuntivist for many years and thought it might be that. He advised if my eyes continue to swell (this morning the bottom left eye was puffy) to go to emergency room. That was bizarre because there are rarely ophmaologist in ER.
Hello, I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Short answer: Allergic conjuctivitis, Benadryl ointment will help.
Detailed answer:
Thank you for your question on HCM.
Your symptoms are suggestive of allegic inflammation of conjunctiva. Your previous repeated history of conjuctivitis also adds upto the diagnosis. Banadryl will help in this case. However, it is hard to tell exact diagnosis without examining your eye.
I suggest you to consult an opthalmologist if your symptoms are not reduced even after applying benadryl ointment.
Take care.
Regards, Dr.Prathap Kumar
