What Causes Swollen Ankle And Foot After A Hysterectomy?

I had a total hysterectomy 5 weeks ago. I went back to work last week. I stand all day and by Friday my feet and ankles were swollen twice normal size. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? I also stopped taking my meloxicam before my surgery and haven t started it back. Should I start taking it again? I do have knee pain again but trying to control it with aleve because I believe the meloxicam causes diarrhea .

Hello,

No it's normal to have swollen ankles and feet after surgery. It's probably either because of prolong standing or in worst case scenario due to clot in leg veins. I suggest you to visit your doctor to see what is causing this swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
