Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had braces for over two months and about a day ago where it is a space between my teeth my gum is swollen and throbbing. I also felt the side of my neck and feel a ball the size of a dime and when I touched it felt discomfort this is on and under the side of the swollen gum
As per your query swollen and throbbing gums because of braces occurs due to excessive proliferation of tissue and increased blood circulation in that area. Continuous irritation from braces can cause mucosa ulceration. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Get your area of braces loosened or dentist will provide relief in that area with the help of modulators or other ortho activators. Apply dologel over inflamed area of gingiva. Rinse with antimicrobial mouthwash. Take anti-inflammatory drugs to prevent further inflammation. Drink plenty of water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
