hello, i can understand your concern. does your mother have any chronic diseases like diabetes?? does she use any medications???? is the swelling associated with fever or any rise in the temperature at the site of swelling???? any loss of sensations in the toes which appear grey???? based on the symptoms and the history this most likely appears like a cellulitis of the lower limb . this basically indicates that she is having an infection. a few basic tests needs to be done for your mother such as 1.complete blood picture. 2.
