Hello,

I can understand your concern. As your wife is suffering from fibromyalgia, she is suffering from the symptoms you are describing.

It is a symptom of fibromyalgia that when the patient wakes up or remains still for some hours, she may feel her muscles stiff. As tongue has no movements during night, it may feel stiff. The swelling and paralysis she is feeling in tongue is actually feeling of numbness in the tongue. This is also common in patients with fibromyalgia. As your wife is bedridden and does not have much movements, she may feel other symptoms related to muscles more severely. If she is having very severe problems, you can consult the doctor treating her for fibromyalgia and discuss if medicines can be changed or increased in dose.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your wife feels better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
