What Causes Swollen And Painful Foot?

Hello, accidentally i dropped my 2.5kgs laptop on top of my foot yesterday. It fell with its corner facing my foot. I applied ice for a long time. Now there s a swelling and its quite painful. Painful enough to walk and move my foot. Now again when i tried to apply ice it felt uncomfortable and a little painful too. Should i be concerned? Is it a bone injury? thanks in advance

Hi,

With the given details, it is difficult to exclude a bone injury, but most probably this might be a contusion only. Try taking analgesics like Ibuprofen for 3 days. Keep the foot elevated. Continue icing for 48 hours. If the pain and swelling is not coming down by then, kindly see your doctor to examine and X-ray as needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
