What Causes Swollen And Painful Finger Knuckle After A Cut?
I cut the top of my hand (next to the middle finger knuckle). The hand was infected and I was prescribed an antibiotic.
The swelling on the top of the hand went down but the knuckle is still red, swollen, warm to the touch and painful when I make a fist.
My doctor said he will not recommend further intake of antibiotics and suggested I see a hand surgeon... I have an appointment in 3 days.
Any idea what the problem is? Will the swelling subside on its own?

it REQUIRES CLINICAL EXAM THOUGH POST TRAUMATIC SWELLING TAKES TIME TO RESOLVE. IF THE JOINT IS INVOLVED THEN ASPIRATION MAYBE ADVISED IN CONSULT WITH UR DOC.
