What Causes Swelling On The Toe?

I stubbed my middle toe of my left foot a couple of weeks ago. Could that cause my foot to swell and uncomfortable on the bottom of my foot? I did not notice bruising but my toe is still swollen compared to the same toe on my other foot. By morning my foot seems much better but I am icing it.

Hello,
Welcome to
Healthcaremagic.com.
As you said you had a hard strike of your middle toe to some thing and now it is swollen
.
Because of the strike there may have occurred minor injury in toe like ligament tear or soft tissue injury and in response to it have developed inflammation. Now because of inflammation your toe is swollen.
You need to apply ice cold packs so that the inflammation will reduce.

You can also take anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen.

Also you may need to visit an orthopedic surgeon if it will not recover and get an X Ray done for any hairline fracture.
Regards
Dr Muzaffar
