What Causes Swelling On The Right Collarbone?

I have swelling on my right side of the neck (by my collarbone). It is pronounced and not sure what it could be. Currently I am feeling that I am coming down with a cold (scratchy throat etc). Should I be concerned about the swelling. I am 50 years old (female) and have never experienced this before

Hello,

As you are experiencing some cold and scratchy throat which indicates the infectious cause. During infection our body responds in different ways and sometimes lymph nodes get swollen. It can be painful or painless.

I would suggest you see your doctor and get it checked. Your doctor will advice appropriate medicines for your symptoms of cold and scratchy throat, the swelling should go away along with symptoms after taking proper treatment. Even after that it still stays, then visit your doctor again then he might advise you to get done other diagnostic tests to see the reason behind it. Sometimes a biopsy is adviced to see what kind of tissue is involved.

So, for now, without panicking, see your doctor and get complete treatment for your symptoms.
