What Causes Swelling On The Back Of Tongue?

I have seen a few doctors and my dentist regarding the right side of my tongue right at the back it a bit Swallen. Everyone told me not to worry and it's nothing because everything is smooth not white patches but I still worry because I can see the difference

Swelling at the back of the right side of tongue can be due to a number of causes like allergic reaction to any food or medication while can also be due to inflammation of the tongue caused due to injury to the tongue with any sharp edges of the tooth..

Although all these conditions are not fatal but at times allergic reactions can be severe..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Pathologist or an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like allergic tests like RAST test, Patch test, Food challenge test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

As of now you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine for relief..
