Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling Of Throat Along With Hair Loss?
In the past 3 years I have given birth to two children. It has been one year since my youngest was born. When my first was born I noticed my throat to feel sore right where the thyroid sits. Recently due to this still being the case and also hair loss and lethargy I went to the doctors to have my thyroid levels checked. He agreed it felt swollen, however one week on my results came back fine. My throat still feels bulging. I can feel it without touching it I just know it is there. If I tilt my head back it is worse. Could I have torn a muscle or done more severe damage when I screamed like every woman does during Labour. Is it worth a return trip to the doctors?
I can understand your concern. The bulging feeling in neck indicates first towards a thyroid disorder that is ruled out in your case. However, the symptoms you are describing should not be ignored too. It is not a reason of your screaming during labor for sure as it does not stay for this long. I would like you to observe for some things: 1. Do you have any fever? 2. Is the swelling only in the front of the neck or in other areas too? 3. Are you having any sudden weight changes? 4. Is the size of the swelling same since you first noticed it or has increased? 5. Do you have any skin rash or infection on the scalp area?
I advise you to visit an ENT surgeon with answers to the above question as he will ask you these to reach a diagnosis. Based on the answers, you might be advised further blood tests or neck ultrasound. Diagnosis and treatment can be based on the results and examination.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have any follow up question.
