What Causes Swelling Of Feet During The Daytime?

I am concerned because my feet tend to swell a lot during the day. I am 49, overweight with a desk job, but I try to get up and move at least once an hour. I drink an average of 80 ounces of water a day. When I workout, either on the elliptical or doing zumba, and wear tennis shoes, my feet do not swell and look normal. When I wear sandals, they tend to swell, but not every day. I have been trying to eat healthier to manage my weight and I use very little salt. I am just concerned this may be a symptom of some other problem. I do not have pain in my feet or legs and I am a non-smoker.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Hanging of legs and feet while prolonged sitting can lead to swelling of feet in healthy individuals.
Keeping oneself ambulatory as far as possible is one of the ways to prevent the swelling.
Absence of swelling at during other activities rules out any underlying disease.
However, I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment and record blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and to examine the heart.
This is because high blood pressure and diseases of heart may be responsible for swelling of feet.

Thanks and take care
