Hi,

Cremaster muscle is a pouch like muscle in which the testicle rests. The overactivity of this muscle will cause the contraction of this muscle and pushes the testicle upwards in the body. When the muscle relaxes, the testicle comes down in the sac. The testicle going like this , up and down is known as retractile testicle. Retractile testicle does not need any treatment.

It will usually descend on its own till one reaches puberty. However, in some cases the testicle does not come down and becomes undescended testicle. Such cases are treated surgically to bring the undescended testicle down in the scrotal sac. The CT scan may not be able to pick up this defect, if at the time of scan, the testicle is in its normal place of scrotal sac. That is why your CT scan may be negative for this.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
