What Causes Swelling In The Legs After Excessive Weight Loss?
I have lost a lot of weight but my legs stay swollen my skin is pale I have a lack of energy and I have dry skin all over my arms and body plus little red spots that look like mosquito bites that have been scratched a lot and don t have a clue what could be my problem, please help
There are different reasons that can cause excessive loss of weight like starvation, some underlying disease which leads in decreased appetite. you said there is swelling on your legs as well, this indicated disorders of organs like kidney, heart or sometimes its of unknown itiology.
I would suggest you see a doctor regarding this without panicking. Your doctor will be able to guide you on this after appropriate history and doing a physical examination. He might ask you to get some blood tests done along with some other diagnostic tests if necessary. Once the underlying cause is known, there will be an improvement in your symptoms with appropriate management.
You can consult a dietician after that to make sure you maintain a healthy diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physicia
