What Causes Swelling In The Knee After Biking?

I am an older triathlete (56). I ride bikes a lot. I m travelling and borrowed my daughter s bike. I fit it to my frame and did a long ride which left me with sore knees. The next morning I did a circuit class and trail run. That evening one of my knees was very swollen - across the top of the knee and over the IT band insertion point. It also has a soft swollen lump on the inside, just to the side of my patella. I have been icing it. This is the third day. It s still quite swollen, although it does not hurt much. Since it doesn t hurt, is it ok to continue training (swim, bike, run and weights )?

Hi
Thanks for posting oyu query on HCM
The swelling is due to the strain/strain on muscles due to the ride. You may not need any special treatment to get over this.I will suggest you rest well. You may take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen if pain persist.
Hope this will help
Best regards
