What Causes Swelling In The Head While Suffering From Migraines?

My son has migraine headaches and they cause his head to swell. He wears a baseball cap and it is loose then when a headache comes on his head swells and the cap becomes tight. He has not had it checked out yet and I was wondering if it is a serious problem?

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I have read and understood your concern.
Migraine headache may be associated with scalp swelling caused by muscle tension/tightness around the head. This may explain the swelling.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination.Treatment of migraine is very effective with both Pain-relieving medications(drugs are taken during migraine attacks and are designed to stop symptoms) and Preventive medications(taken regularly, often on a daily basis, to reduce the severity or frequency of migraines) measures.Just see the Doctor for evaluation.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns.
Best regards
