What Causes Swelling In The Eyelid After An Injury?

My son had a lightly bruised eyelid a month ago that he didn t know where it came from. He didn t get hit or hurt, and he had said it was there for a couple weeks. It is still there, now it is swollen, looks like a lump, but isn t hard and doesn t hurt. It now really looks bruised, but no reason for it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Generally, bruise around the eye lid will take a couple of weeks to heal. The discolouration caused by such injuries takes about 6 months to be back to normal.
Since you are stating that you are noticing a lump, it could be due to blood clot or fibrosis tissue underneath the skin. It needs to be examined clinically and confirmed about what it could be due to and then institute the treatment for it accordingly.
Kindly consult Opthalmologist promptly for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
