Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Anus Along With Pain In The Buttocks?
I thought I had hemorrhoids not to sure. Pain while using the bathroom but no blood. Anus feels swollen and super sensitive to touch. No actual bumps visible. I have been having a little flab of extra skin that hangs from but my whole life never had trouble. Butthole hurts to push in. Buttocks and legs have been feeling achy and keeping me up. Been going on 3 days without relief
You are suggested to get physically examined (Rectal examination). Since the anus feels swollen & sensitive, it looks like Perianal abscess, a painful collection of pus (boil) near the anus.
Take warm sitz bath. You can take Acetaminophen for pain. Take a course of Augmentin or Amplox for good relief. Get STI's tests done to stay confirmed you do not have STD.
Drainage is the treatment of choice. Common complications after drainage are anal fistula, scarring, infection & recurrence. Stay away from oily, junk food. Maintain healthy weight & hygiene.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
