What Causes Unusual Swelling In The Ankles While On BP Medication And Prolia Shot Once Every 6 Months?

I am a 68 year old female and weigh 115 pounds at 5 feet 2 inches. I have taken high blood pressure medication for years to maintain a healthy blood pressure. I am checked twice a year including blood work to monitor this condition. I also have osteoporatic bones and receive a prolia shot every 6 months. Recently I have had swelling in my ankles for no apparent reason. It is not painful but unsightly. I am moderately active and try to get 10,000 steps in a day. I am wondering what could be causing the swelling and is it cause for concern?

Hello and greetings

Swelling in ankles could be due to number of reasons like any cardiac disease especially heart failure, any kidney disease affecting filtration rate like kidney failure, or thyroid disorder especially hypothyroidism or any local trauma to legs or low protein in body can cause ankle swelling. Also, arthritic diseases can too cause swelling in feet.

Get proper investigation to find out the cause.

Thanks.
