Thank you, doc. I have been taking 2.5 mg bid Norvasc (amylodipine) for 15 years.I am 69 and in good health. Recently though, I have developed swelling on my left ankle and calf and slight pain on my right calf with pain down from my hip to my ankle.i did have numbness and tingling for two months but that has settled.i am active,on my feet a lot doing gardening and walking. My bp is normal. I weigh 145 lbs. I also take 2.5 mg Cipralex for anxiety. I feel very positive and energised about my life. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of Norvasc induced side effect. Edema (swelling) around the foot and ankle is one the most common side effects of Norvasc. You are advised to consult your treating doctor to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medication for your high blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
