Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,
I am Dr.Ahmad Bilal, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.
Swelling can most probably be due to inflammation of the tooth.
This inflammation then gives way to super added infections which are indeed notorious they worsen the gum swelling and they cause
severe pain.
In this situation the best thing to do is to visit your
dentist immediately and get a thorough check up.
He might want to do some investigation like:
1)CBC.
2) X.ray jaw
And then most probably you would be prescribed a few medicines :
If you were my patient,
These medicines will include:
1)
Amoxicillin 500 mg to be used twice a day .
2) Tablet
Brufen 400 mg twice a day.
A local anaesthetic like SOMOGEL can be used to relieve the pain and provide protection from further germs.
Till you get appointment with the dentist you can try following things.
1) An OTC anti inflammatory mouth wash.
2) Warm water gargles.
3) OTC mouth gel.
4) Tablet Brufen.
This will help you and will relieve your symptoms but you might need antibiotics for better cure.
I would suggest you to visit your dentist as soon as possible
....
I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask,I will be pleased to alleviate your concerns.Wish you the best of health.
Regards,
Dr.Ahmad Bilal.
