What Causes Swelling, Hardness And Pain In The Abdomen?

my husband is 38 years old his abdomen is swollen and hard even though he cant keep his food down unfortunately only alcohol takes away the pain this has been going on for months he doesn't have insurance so no dr will see him as a patient aand the er doesn't consider it life threatening so he isn't getting the proper treatment what is causing this swollen hard abdomen with pressure and pain? and what can we do?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling, hardness and pain in the abdomen. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like consuming foods known to cause gas in some people, such as milk products that contain lactose, broccoli, appendicitis, crohn’s disease, gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome or urinary tract infection. You should take plenty of fluids. I would suggest you to avoid above mentioned foods , eat light and non spicy specially at night , take light walk after every meal , eat small and frequent meals. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ultrasound , endoscopy along with stool test . Doctor may prescribe laxative , anti inflammatory along with antacids .
