Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What would cause a large swelling under both knees on the inside top of shin? I also have weight gain in the legs thighs and hips. I am just recently post menoposal and I am very small. I have always had large thighs and legs a d they are bigger now. The dwellings have been here a long time and now my right knee hurts in the back behind the joint. I have been to many doctors and they have checked just about everything besides my heart. I take no meds and I have no diagnosis of anything wrong. Please give me some thoughts of what I might do now. Thank you
The swelling in the knee after the removal of baker's cyst is less likely to be due to recurrence of the cyst. It is more likely to be related to a joint inflammation like synovitis or arthritis.
A CT scan of the affected joint will help in proper diagnosis. To decrease the throbbing give adequate rest to the knee joint.
Do not indulge in activities like climbing stairs or squatting. Do a hot fomentation and take a mild pain killer for relief. A direct examination will help in proper diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
