I was leaning over my dog to grab a pillow and he hit me in the throat with his head. He is a small Jack Russell-Bull terrier mix. I have no voice change. But, it feels swollen, although I have NO trouble breathing. It feels sore, but I'm also fighting a cold. Am I just overreacting?
Sore throat in your case is not due to any bacterial or viral infections but it is may be due to the trauma or impact injury. Impact injuries lead to swelling in the throat mucosa and inflammation.
i would suggest you to start with a antibiotic and analgesic course consulting your doctor, which helps in subsiding the swelling and relives the pain.
Symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine helps giving soothing effect to the throat.
i hope this helps, take care.
