Cardiac Surgeon 's  Response
Swelling is a normal body response called inflammation to any injury. It usually increases first before it subsides. But with a cut on the skin you have to be cautious it doesn't get infected.Make sure you washed carefully. If it starts getting very read and does not start subsiding in a day or so then you need to get checked and start antibiotics. Also remember to get tetanus vaccine if you are not uptodate
