Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This is because of chemical irritation to the eye. Presence of sticky yellow discharge in the corner might indicate a secondary infection. Swelling and redness indicates the injury was significant. I strongly recommend you to consult an ophthalmologist, as we have to see if there is a corneal ulceration or not, and will need antibiotics and lubricant drops. Meanwhile you can take paracetamol for relieving the discomfort.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
