What Causes Swelling And Pain In Knee?

Okay so i was deadliftting pretty heavy about 3 months ago. Didnt feel it at first but the next day i could tell my right knee was tender. So i decided to lay off of it. The next day my right knee swelled up and was significantly swelled for about 6 weeks. It got better and the swelling went down but i still had clicking and sometimes it would lock sometimes and i didn t have full range of motion. Well then the same symptoms started happening to my left knee. Except not nearly as bad. Now both my knees are a little swollen. I cant bend them like i used too. And they hurt to walk on. I went to a physical therapist and a doctor and they both think i have a meniscus tear in my right knee. They didn t look at my left, but said it was possible to have a tear in both knees. Cause i have been using both of them to work out. The doctor told me to take 4 ibruprofens every 7 hours and ice and heat my knees. Which is significantly helping. My question is will my swelling in my knees go down eventually? I feel like this has been going on for too long :/

Hi, it may be a meniscal tear in both the knee joints and there will instances of locking of knee and swelling of the knee. Please do a MRI of the knee joint and take consultation from your orthopedic doctor. The swelling is not going to subside on its own.
