What Causes Swelling And Pain In A Cheek?

My right cheek just suddenly became swollen and I'm feeling a hot sensation & light pain. Is this an abscess? Or infection coming from my Lower gums? I had the wisdom tooth removed last year.
Ok to do Ice pack & aspirin? It three weekend, can't get to dentist till Monday

Hi Dear,

As per your query you have symptoms of swelling and pain in cheek which is because of presence of infection in lower tooth region. There must be carious lesion in oral cavity, due to which continuous bacterial accumulation is there and it leads to formation of pus and infection finding no way to escape and leads to formation of abscess. i would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined. get IOPA(X-RAY) done to check extent of infection. Go for root canal therapy of that particular tooth if tooth is restorable otherwise go for extraction. Take proper course of antibiotic like combination of Diclofenac and Ibuprofen. Do warm saline gargles. Maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Rinse with listerine mouth wash.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
