Hi.. Thanks for the query.. If your friend is able to walk then there is probably no bone fracture as in bone fracture there is inability to put weight over the leg. It looks like oft tissue injury only and bruising is die to rupture of small blood vessels during injury due to which the blood leaks from them and gets accumulated in soft tissues.. Swelling is also due to inflammation of tissues and fluid accumulation.. I would suggest you that you should give her a combination of anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant like cyclobezaprine. Apply analgesic gels with muscle relaxant combination can also relieve.. Do cool compresses.. While sleeping or lying down she should elevate the leg by keeping pillows under the foot.. Avoid any strenuous work as it can be painful and swelling can increase.. Hope this helps.. Regards..
