What Causes Swelling And Bruising After Treating Knee Injury?

I am a gymnast and landed very hard on both of my knees while mid flip. My right knee has healed, but my left knee is still swollen and bruised with pain on the medial side. My ligaments were checked and there was no damage to my ligaments. I was wondering if it is possible to have a tibial plateau fracture and still be walking on it.

Hello,
I have gone through your query

There could be two reasons why your swelling is not residing
First , as you thought, there could be fracture which can be better diagnosed with a digital X ray .But as there is no ligament injury, chances of fracture is less.If you had sustained fracture,it would have been difficult for weight bearing.

Second, swelling and bruising could be due to soft tissue injury which will heal gradually with the help of medications and rest. You can continue taking analgesics and be in rest until the swelling subsides.
If there is no improvement its always better to consult a specialist for further evaluation.

Hope my advise will be of help to you,
Will be happy to answer any further concerns.
